Match reports: Steve Clemens

12/11/06 Home to Ashmoor F.C in the League

Tots kicked off down the slope playing the ball around but to no avail. After 15 mins, Ashmoor Had a corner that went short Terri Coysh picked up the loose ball running it out of midfield she passed the ball through to Hannah Boyling who went on a run and scored a cracking goal . The game went from end to end with Tots having the lions share of possession, playing fluid football. But up to half time tots could not get a second goal with all the chances they had. Half time it was 1-0 to Totnes.

Ashmoor played down the slope in the second half playing route 1 football. Totnes could still not find the second goal they deserved for the amount of possession they had, with Eva Osman going close. Charlie Carter had to make a couple of outstanding saves towards the end. Breaking away up the Slope the ball could not find the back of the net with Eva & Kelsey Burford both going close . in the final minutes tots had to defend well with Sophie Clemens & Rebecca Marment holding their own. In the final minute Tots conceded a killer equalizer after a goal mouth scramble.

The girls should not be despondent with all the possession they had and the goal attempts in our favour in my opinion a 1-1 draw was unjust , but all credit to Ashmoor they never gave up it may not look pretty but it was effective.
Terri Coysh had a good game with Ashleigh Beevers getting better as each game comes along. It may be 2 points dropped but the effort was their.

5/11/2006 Totnes & Dartington u14s home to Newton Town

Well Well what can I say after our dismal performance last week The 14s proved to Manager Steve Clemens that they can play and win stylish football.
Playing up the slope 1st half Kelsey Burford scored straight from the kick off. Soon after Terri Coysh scored her 1st of her Hat trick to make it 2-0
The inter play with give and go football was nice to watch, Kerrianne Mucklow had a shot wide, but she was quick to put her next in the back of the net,
So at half time it was 5-0 to Tots & Dartington.

Playing down the hill with the sun at their backs it was much the same as the 1st half with Tots playing the ball around the park. Kelsey scored 2 more to make her
Hat trick. Sophie Clemens on one of her searing runs from the back was brought down out side the 18 yard box. Up strolled captain and goalie Charlotte Carter
To take the direct free kick stroking the ball sweetly into the back of the net. Hannah Boyling then went on her own hat trick spree with fine flowing football.
To round off the 12-0 rout was Frankie Penwill. Like lour last encounter Newton Town never gave up and played with spirit through out assisted by their
New manager well done Newton for sticking with it.
Final score Totnes & Dartington 12 Newton Town nil

The u14s played away to Ashmoor FC. The girls today let them selves & their supporters down with an inept performance; they usually play good cohesive football.

But no not today Sunday 29-10-06. As manager I was disappointed with general attitude and lack of commitment. It was 0-0 at half time with Tots having a couple
Of 1st half efforts. After a half time roasting, they then showed sporadic football, it was just not enough.

Kelsey Burford had a fine free kick saved by their keeper but no one followed up the goal mouth scramble. By this time we were 2-0 down.

Sophie Clemens had little run through the middle and was unlucky not to score with good shot that skimmed the cross bar. Eva Osman shot into the right hand side of the goal netting. Eva can hold her head high as she battled well through out and had a good game. Charlotte Carter was trying to get the girls going to no avail.
Let’s hope this was only a blip with all the girls putting effort into their next training session and get back to playing good football and the winning ways we’ve had.

The under 14s played Twyford Spartans u 16s in a nine a-side friendly on a full size pitch at Twyford. The girls were without Kelsey & Terri. But we were lucky
To have guest players from the u/15/16s in Laura Hawkins & Kat Marment they both did their team mates proud in producing excellent performances, on behalf the
14,s thanks you two. Charlie Carter yet again pulled off some top notch saves. For the first 15-20 minutes their was nothing to pick from the sides, we were
Unlucky to lose Frankie Penwill with an ankle injury who was marshalling the back 3 well. At half time we were down 1 nil.

Frankie was back on at the start of the 2nd half only to get a knock on the same place straight from kick off which resulted in another goal for twyford.
The bigger pitch was starting to show on Tots, credit is due as the girls never gave up, and kept trying to play good football, towards the end a good move ended with
Hannah Boyling unlucky not to score, Ashleigh Beevers was on hand to finish it off. Sophie Clemens is over her broken foot with 2 cracking tackles and a surging run
Up through the middle. Eva Osman worked her socks off covering back. Even though we ran out to 5-1 loss the girls have nothing to be despondent about as losing
To a strong u16 side is no disgrace as the amount of effort and give and go football was nice to see. With a bit more awareness and experience the 14s will be able
To hold their own when they eventually move up to the 11 aside game.

Totnes & Dartington u14 ladies away to Newton Town League match

Playing up the slope the girls started off well with Kelsey Burford scoring after 4minutes, the girls started to pass the ball around Ashleigh Beevers popped to score after 6 minutes. With the rain pouring down the football was good in patches, Ashleigh was on the end of a through ball to scuff home on 16 mins. Sophie Clemens Took a well struck shot from the edge of our 18 yard box after the ball was released by our keeper Charlie. Straight after Kelsey had a good shot saved, by their under pressure keeper. Off a Frankie Penwill shot the ball rebounded for Ashleigh to score her hatrick. Another Frankie shot set up Terri Coysh, to make it 5-0 to tots at half time.

After half time we rung the changes with Charlie Carter being replaced in goal by Eva Osman who touched the ball about 3 times in the second half. Straight from the off Charlie was off on a good run to score a long range effort. Terri soon scored again out on the left. Newton were given a cruel blow when one of their girls handled in the goal area. Charlie strode up to place a well taken penalty in the back of the net. With about 15 minutes to go Hannah Boyling was at last to succeed with a Brace of well taken goals. Totnes by now were not playing good football, they all wanted to score, Hence the play became Sloppy and not a true reflection on their ability, Many a time Kerriane Mucklow was in good space but the ball was not played through. With not long to go Bex Marment now playing out of position in midfield played a nice ball through, after a goal mouth scramble lady luck was certainly not on Newton’s side as they scored an OG. Terri Coysh finished off the match with her third goal. Newton Town must be given credit for they never gave up and were gracious in defeat.

Final score Newton Town 0 - Totnes & Dartington u14s 12

TOT & DARTINGTON U 14S AWAY TO MANSTOW

TOTS STARTED OFF WITH THE WIND AT THEIR BACKS, AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY WE FOUND OURSELVES 1-0 DOWN AFTER ONLY 8 MINUTES, BUT NOT TO BE OUTDONE THE GIRLS WERE RIGHT BACK LEVELLING 1-1 THROUGH A TERRI COYSH GOAL. THE GAME WENT FROM END TO END AND ON 16 MINUTES ASHLEIGH BEEVERS MADE 2-1 TO TOTNES. WE TURNED AROUND AFTER HALF TIME,PLAYING INTO A STRONG WIND
STRAIGHT AWAY CHARLIE CARTER HAD TO MAKE A FINE FINGER TIP SAVE. EVA OSMAN HAD A FINE EFFORT SAVED ON 45 MINUTES, JUST AFTER THAT FRANKIE PENWILL WAS UNLUCKY NOT TO PUT US FURTHER IN FRONT WE ATTACKED WELL FROM DEEP, WITH SOPHIE AND BEX PROTECTING CHARLIE IN GOAL. IT WAS NICE TO SEE THE GIRLS PUTTING INTO PRACTICE WHAT THEY HAD BEEN TAUGHT IN TRAINING. WE ARE STILL NOT FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS, BUT THIS WAS A GOOD WIN OVER THE DJM LEAUGE SIDE WHO THE PREVIOUS DAY HAD BEATEN A STRONG LIPSON SIDE IN THE CUP

FINAL SCORE 1-2 TO TOTNES & DARTINGTON U 14S
